Beginning
- Always Introduce yourself and your role.
- Ask the parent/patient how they are
(builds rapport). - Ask them if they want anyone else involved in the conversation.
- Take someone with you (for difficult conversations).
- Say you won’t be interrupted, and that you’ve put your bleep away.
End (last 3 mins)
- Agree plan and summarize.
- Offer follow-up leaflet + to meet with consultant/senior member of MDT.
- Offer to come back and answer questions.
- Thank them.
